Polyaspartic Compared to Epoxy

When it comes to your home, only the best will do. Getting the Best Product & the MOST VALUE for each dollar spent is the goal. We install Polyaspartic (a type of urethane) coating instead of epoxy because it is superior to epoxy in the categories that matter:

1. Strength- Spec Sheets above show Tensile Strength 6,400 vs 3,527 psi

2. Adhesion - Spec Sheets above show 425 vs 300 psi

3. Flexibility - Polyaspartic is a material that does not crack over concrete cracks like epoxy does, it is flexible, look at this video that shows us demonstrating epoxy cracking over cracks because of its brittle nature.

4. UV stability - Non-yellowing (aliphatic) unlike or aromatic urethanes which do also yellow

5. Dry Time - 2 hours for foot traffic vs 24 for epoxy and full dry time which makes it ready for vehilces and heavy items in only 12 hours vs 3 days for epoxy.

6. Wearablity - Polyaspartic is a resilient material which allows it to absorb greater impacts, allowing it to flex instead of crack like epoxy does which gives it an industry recognized wear factor 3X greater than that of epoxy.

Polyaspartic is a type of Polyurea that has undergone changes to make it superior to Polyurea. Polyaspartic is a type of Polyurea just like a Corvette is a type of Chevrolet, but that does not mean that all Polyureas are Polyaspartics. Polyurea that has not been converted into a Polyaspartic is cheaper, weak, and will yellow. Polyaspartic is much stronger, sticks much better and does not yellow at all. So make sure you don't get confused between the two.Our Heavy Chip Polyaspartic Floors have two layers of chips instead of one layer for twice the lifetime once the clear coat has worn thru and exposed the chips, and it has 3x more than average (10 mils thick vs 3 mils thick) clear coat of Polyaspartic on top of the chips so that it takes longer to get thru to them. That's why we Feature Sherwin Williams 100% Polyaspartic Urethane for our customers because this top-of-the-line product provides a durable, long-lasting finish that can withstand even the most strenuous abuse. Plus, it is easy to maintain and clean - just what you need for a busy garage! Just use a garden hose nozzle trigger to pull and squirt water on it to wash it off like you would your dirty car! If you spill something on it you can simply spray it with Simple Green Cleaner or some Dishwashing Liquid like Dawn before you wash it off. If you're looking for the best possible garage floor coating and the MOST VALUE for your Money Spent then Houston Garage Floors is hands down the clearest, easiest, and the most obvious choice. 281-849-3070 CALL TODAY!!!

Polyaspartic vs epoxy had been a big debate for some time until recently when polyaspartic was manufactured in a way to yield an adhesion strength greater than that of epoxy.

Epoxy is a two-part resin that is mixed together and then applied to the floor. It dries hard but unfortunately too hard as it becomes brittle and cracks or shatters when placed over moving cracks as the epoxy is unable to stretch like polyaspartic urethane does. Epoxy is also more porous than urethane and therfore easier to stain. What is
polyaspartic coating? Polyaspartic is also a two-part resin that is applied to the floor and then dries hard with a little bit of flexibility. It is more durable because it is resilient (slightly flexible) and easier to clean since it is non-porous unlike epoxy. Plus polyaspasrtic urethane is UV stable so it will not yellow like epoxy or polyurea urethane. Polyaspartic Urethane is the best available product for floor coatings. It is twice as strong as epoxy and sticks much better. Plus it will dry fast enough to resume full use in 12 hours unlike epoxy which requires 2 days to install and 3 more days to cure. Once we install your heavy chip premium polyaspartic urethane package that is $2,995 for 2 car garages up to 400 sq ft, you will be able to drive on your floor in 12 hours from the time we install the clear coat guaranteed!
